So, with patch 1.9, I can understand why they've finally patched the Oghma glitch and Ungrien speech exploit. But why the Lucan money bug? That is really beneficial and it gets tedious selling loot off as you progress in the game. It sucks either waiting 48 hours per transaction or hitting/killing the merchant, then reload a dozen times after only going through one or two dungeons. Completing 'No Stone Unturned' makes it worse. What Beth could've at least done is make the merchant system like Oblivion's, where merchants have a fixed amount of gold that won't decrease or increase as you buy or sell items. Also, Beth did NOT fix the ash pile issue.
After waiting 30+ in game days far away from a Mara's Eye Pond, the ash piles of the Smuggler and Skeleton remain. So already dead bodies still remain always. Finally, something that has been plaguing me from day one is the whole Cicero/DB Initiate bumping into you and getting in your face constantly thing. Does it hurt to stay three feet away from me like a housecarl? Or any other follower for that matter? (besides Barbas!).
I mean, if they can add more guards and fix a whole bunch of beneficial bugs/glitches, then why not this one? Just curious.
You would think the Restoration Potion Glitch™ would be fixed instead. Talk about game breaking. Sure it requires a little effort to do, but then so did the Oghma glitch. Now I can one-shot kill for 1290 points of damage with an iron dagger(legendary) and have a complete outfit giving me the best possible prices, a magicka fortification and regeneration so high the bar doesn't move when I cast master level spells, gloves of Smithing that let me craft other weapons and armor just as awesome as my iron dagger(legendary), the Ultimate Ring of Alchemy, and shoes that let me carry the world.sigh. But I can't one stop shop at Lucan's anymore. Because, as we all know, gold is and should be scarce and hard to get. I'm so glad they have their priorities straight.
I'm off to go punch a dragon in the face with my Pugilist Gloves of God Slaying. I mean, if they can add more guards and fix a whole bunch of beneficial bugs/glitches, then why not this one? Firstly, I agree with you on the fixed amount of gold for merchants. I am a mad alchemist and make potions all the time, probably dozens for each alchemy shop I go to, if they have enough ingredients to buy. Therefore, I have tons of potions to sell that some of which can sell for two hundred gold or more, and merchants never have enough money for me to just sell them all at once. I haven't yet invested in stores, but that really wouldn't help, considering I ALWAYS have some cool loot on me to sell from dungeoning. Wish there was a set amount of gold so I wouldn't have to run around and bankrupt every merchant there is. Also, I agree with you on the Cicero topic!
I have him as my follower, and if I stop, he'll plow right into me and push me up against doors, walls, etc, even enemies, if I'm trying to sneak attack. Once he even pushed me off a drop point. Thanks, Cicero. A lot of followers have issues, like standing in doorways and getting in your way, but Cicero just rams right into you and pushes you around. Kind of obnoxious.
Still, I take him along because he generally does not get in the way of my walking or my attacks, and his singing tends to be amusing. As much as I would love to dump all my potions on one vendor, I like the fact that merchants are not bottomless pits of gold. Yeah, it's an inconvenience to have to travel to multiple merchants or wait a couple days or whatever it is that people do to unload their stuff and collect all that shiny, clinky gold. But it's more realistic. There are degrees of realism that I'm comfortable with and this is one of them.

Besides, WHAT ARE YOU GONNA SPEND IT ALL ON? Regarding followers and their annoying tendency to push and otherwise interfere with what I'm trying to accomplish. I'm with you. Barbas is why I hate all Skyrim dogs.
I tend to waffle between having a follower so I can grab more loot or going solo so my plans go the way I planned them to. I was gonna give Cicero a shot but now I'm not sure I want him. He amuses me in a nails-on-chalkboard kinda way. There was a thread awhile back on him and I commented that whoever did his character should get an award.

I have a love/hate relationship with him. The only option seems to be to shortsell of to buy enough to make up the difference with stuff you actually do need (soul gems, ingredients, etc.). I've taken to buying out the ingredients and then selling my old created potions just so I can get the alchemy points. It's not a win/win situation, but, hey, at least I can unload some potions. Too bad that I create just as many, but then again, after creating crappy potions for so long, at least now I make a lot of smithing, invisibility, 2 handed-1 handed-armor-archery enhancement potions that I actually can use! Fences can still have up to 5000 gold. Up to 4000 if you don't have master trader (depending on how many special jpbs you have done for delvin. You need to do the lot for 4000/5000). The new patch makes it really worth finishing the thieves guild asap just to get access to the fences.

As for the problem with visiting multiple traders. Well the main problem with ps3 is the glacial loading times quite honestly when going in and out of all of those shops.
My 1 stop trading hub is now windhelm as the market has a fence a blacksmith I can invest in plus another general goods stall to sell to all in 1 place that I can fast travel to with no additional loading screens. Fences can still have up to 5000 gold.

I dont much like the 1.9 patch that took away the gold from the riverwood trader either. I am one of those players who likes to dump the unwanted merchandise quickly and move on instead of having to travel to numerous merchants across skyrim and sit through the loading screens.
I have over 9 miillion gold septims after playing on and off for about a year or so on my xbox 360 my khajiit has gold septim fever and cant turn down anything that earns a septim. I dont play skyrim as much anymore as my work schedule keeps me busy most of the time. Also, I agree with you on the Cicero topic! That's some realism I could go for. Why even put them in the game? It's bad enough some NPCs are 'essential.'
I would rather screw up a questline because I killed someone and have to start over than deal with unkillable people. But I understand why Bethesda did it this way. It's been ages since I played Oblivion but I still don't see anything wrong with merchants not having infinite amounts of gold. Considering how few things there are to spend it on, it's just as well that I can't milk them more than I already do. It's nice being wealthy but fairly meaningless if there's nothing much to buy. I've considered starting a character with severe restrictions on what they can loot just so gold will be worth getting.
I don't have any experience with the Dawnguard dogs because I haven't progressed that far with it but I have a feeling they won't be much better.
It’s another case of better late than never though as far as Bethesda are concerned, and there’s a little twist as well to tell you about for the specific update on 1.9. Bethesda has revealed on that the update is available as an automatic title update download simply by turning your respective console on with an active internet connection. For those that haven’t read up on the 1.9 update when it, we can tell you that the new 1.9 title update will add the Legendary difficulty setting to the game. You’ll now be able to reset skills as well with the new Legendary features, allowing you to wipe out level 100 skills, return them to level 15 but can no longer be subjected to a level cap.
That means you can keep earning experience points on your skills as you progress through the game – a move that players will ultimately appreciate once they have learned how it works. Long with the Legendary features, there is also a vast list of new bug fixes to read through, which you’ll be able to do through the Beth blog. Some of the changes include a fix which caused Alduin to become invincible during “Alduin’s Bane”, crashes when entering the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary and an overall improvement to general memory and stability of the game. Console players should now be able to play a much smoother Skyrim and it should keep Xbox 360 and PS3 users busy until the content arrives – will it be Summerset or not?
Bethesda has announced that patch 1.9 for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is now available to download in its final form on Steam, with a console release set to follow shortly. The patch has been available as a beta on Steam for the last few weeks and is now available to all. “For console players out there, we’re hoping to release 1.9 later this month,” Bethesda said on its blog. Patch 1.9 adds a new Legendary difficulty and also removes the game’s level cap by allowing players to reset skills to begin leveling them all over again, offering more experience gains. Upgrading to the latest patch is usually recommended, as many bugs and glitches are often fixed by the patches. You can find out about your version in the lower left corner of the 'System' screen (Esc on PC, Start then selecting 'System' on console). Extra details on specific platforms can be found on the related pages, and. Please note that having a designated patch installed will not guarantee that the issue it was supposed to fix will be fixed upon entering game.
In some cases after a patch has been installed players have noted that their previous save files have become unplayable, glitchy and other issues. As such it may be necessary to start a new game file to have all issues resolved. Version 1.9 Version 1.9.32.0.8 Patch 1.9.32.0.8 was released as a Steam beta update on 19 March 2013 and was released to all PC users on 20 March 2013, nearly three weeks before the 1.9.31.0.8 patch for Xbox 360 and PS3.
Version 1.9.31.0.8 Version 1.9.31.0.8 was released for Xbox 360 and PS3 users on 8 April 2013. Bug Fixes. Fixed issue with NPCs sleeping with open eyes Version 1.9.29.0.8 Patch 1.9.29.0.8 was released as a Steam beta update on 7 March 2013 and was released to all PC users on 18 March 2013. Bug Fixes.
Fixed issue with certain cured diseases reappearing after reloading a save Beta 1.9.26.0.8 Beta patch 1.9.26.0.8 was released on Steam on 4 March 2013. New Features. Legendary difficulty setting. Legendary Skills – Skills of 100 can be made Legendary. This will reset the skill to 15, reset all associated and refund their perk points, and allow the skill to affect leveling again.
Big ol' 1.9 patch goes live on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 today. Console adventurers can enjoy on top of a new difficulty mode and skill system. Legendary difficulty and skills might be enough to tempt rehabilitated Skyrim junkies back into the habit: enemies deal three times as much damage and players dish out just a quarter of their own on the new difficulty; fully upgraded skills can be reset to allow for further leveling-don't worry, you needn't play on Legendary difficulty to do so. Bethesda has not announced plans for Skyrim DLC beyond, but this patch shows the year-and-a-half-old game has a lot of life left in it.
